Catching Up..

It's hard to believe that it has been two years since my last post! I had thought I would be much more disciplined, but apparently life got in the way.  So much has happened since I last posted - I almost don't know where to start!  Life has of course dealt me both hard knocks and good fortune.. sadly, the hard knocks have been much more abundant than the good fortune!  I have had a couple surgeries since I was last on here.. my car was totaled due to a lady not being able to drive and text (remember.. no texting while driving - it can wait!) and I am still addicted to my horses!  My husband continues to be my greatest supporter and my best friend - without him, I'm not sure where I'd be.. he keeps me grounded and makes me a better person! My son is truly a joy.. I can't imagine a day without him!  He can drive me absolutely crazy, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it.. I dread him leaving for college in a couple of years!  On a happier note - we finally bought a house.. It's a beautiful two story built in 2011 and located in Hockley.. We are out of the main part of the city - finally!  I love our house.. but I can honestly say that I completely hate my drive to work!  Houston drivers are awful and the traffic is even worse!  I've learned to become a very defensive driver since moving here..  I'm still struggling with my weight - and I'll try to document my trials and tribulations here as well for those who care to read about it..  Of course, I'll also be documenting my relationship with my two boys (of the four legged variety) Jaded and Devlin.  I managed to acquire Devlin by a sheer stroke of luck.. he's Jaded's half brother and a complete and utter dream!  I tried to buy him as a 6 month old foal but he wasn't for sale - luck was on my side.. he came up for sale as a three year old and I was able to get him..  I'll be updating my progress with Jaded, especially since all his training up until now has been done by just me.. I'll admit I have my hands full handling a green 5 year old and an unbroke 4 year old!!

Just Getting Started

Wow.. I never thought I'd be one to start a blog.. but here goes.. why not?  Sunday January 30th, 2011 was the most amazing day!  See, I've owned Jaded since he was a yearling.. I fell in love with him and just had to have him.  I wanted a colt to raise and not know any other training but mine.  So, I brought him home.. he was a scared little thing at first.. but he's blossomed so much!  We study Parelli Natural Horsemanship and Jaded is amazing!  The proof of that... Sunday.. for the first time.. I rode Jaded around the pasture with nothing but a halter.. it was our first time together.. I was so proud of him!  I've sat on him before and my husband led him around the round pen.. but that's it.. This was out in a two acre pasture.. no one leading us.. Just me and Jaded.. I was the happiest I've been in so long!  He's growing more and more every day.. I'm so proud of this colt.. he's going to be something truly amazing!  Love him!
